Having Fun July 15th, 2009 Things are looking good and I'm feeling much less stress. Monday my wallpaper arrived and I got it all hung, as well as the mirrors, silhouette pictures in the dressing room, etc. Tuesday I painted and hung the chair rail, books arrived, and I burnt DVDs. Today I slept in til nearly 8am and it felt awesome. My to-do list is shrinking and I'm going to take most of the day off... though I still have a tutu to make, clean up, and get myself organized. No biggie... plenty of time! ***** FYI ***** Oh yall crack me up! I have ONE book left for the open house. You will still be able to order them afterwards off the publisher's website, and it looks like it will be on Amazon.com as well, but I'm not certain of the price they will have. So don't fret if you don't get one for the open house, but you just might end up paying more. BOOKS ARE GONE! My guess is other would still like to get the $50 price and plan to get their book at the book launch party, so I will take orders that night to get another order shipped to me for the $50 price. However the only ones able to pick up their books that night will be those who have now already purchased their books. Sorry. You will have to go ahead and pay here by clicking below, or pay that evening in order to be in on that price. Sometime next week I will be posting links to the publisher's book page and when I get it, the amazon.com page too. So it's not like you're gonna be stuck forever with out the chance to buy one :) fa ![]() Here's a look at some of the fabulousness to expect when you come see the place at the open house this Saturday! Above is a peek at the dressing room, and below is a dress up wall for little girls. ![]() ![]() The costumes are priced and ready to move out :) We've been fully enjoying summertime here at the Hattery home. We've recently met a new girl to the neighborhood, a 4th grader, that both boys thoroughly adore. She's well behaved and charming and plays great with my kids. She's pretty much lived here, except for nighttime, and that's okay with me. The only problem I've found is that when playing house, both my sons wanted to play the day (she of course was mom), and it quite literally ended with Josh in tears. I knew that with their closeness in age there might be a day where both boys are sweet on the same girl... I did not anticipate it at ages 6 and 7. But alas, my oldest will be in 2nd grade, and her in 4th, so I think we can count on this as only a summer romance and he'll soon be discarded. Don't feel too badly. There's several girls Chris likes pretty well who are in his grade. And Josh? He already has two 'wives' as he use to call them, from school (cause he's kissed them, so he thought at first that made them married.) And there is a second little girl in the neighborhood who he's been cutting flowers for from our garden and delivering them to her every day this week ;) She doesn't seem to mind the attention too much. They say that absence makes the heart grow fonder. I'm not so sure that applies to those in primary school. You see Josh was quite head over heels for Allie and Claire at Kindergarten (for the record, he's never kissed Allie. I know those who are very close to Allie read this blog, and I don't want him in trouble) But now with Riley being right here a few houses away, he can't seem to get enough of her. It will be interesting to see who's in his class this fall, and if that changes who he's crushing on. Costume Sale July 13th, 2009 It occured to me that I just don't want to have the hassel of putting the costumes from this Spring's whimsy sessions on ebay, or waiting for payments, or package and ship them out. So therefore, while pricing costumes for sale at the open house, I marked everything at about 40% less then what I would make on ebay. Furthermore, at the open house, I could easily be convinced to take even less as I am eager to get these out of my room and make space for seniors' clothes. Costumes are marked from $15 to $40. These prices are ONLy for at the open house this Saturday, from 1-3pm, at 120 W Main Street in Van Wert! Furthermore, they are being sold as is, as they were used out in the woods and are sure to have some tulle stretched and torn here and there... but at 100 feet + of tulle, you're likely not to notice. Here's a few pics to remind you of what some look like. ![]() ![]() ![]() JMK July 10th, 2009 Just My Kids :) With the new equipment and new studio I wanted to play around a bit before 'real' people came for photos... these are some of the shots taken in June while playing around. Yes, June, and just now showing them. I've been working hard setting up the studio! It's now 90% done. Stillllll waiting on wallpaper to arrive. Had to cancel the first order when after 13 days it still had not shipped and couldn't get anyone to let me know what was going on (online company, impossible to contact by phone, no answer to emails). But anyway... here's my kiddos, looking all old and mature *sigh* ![]() Well, at least the boys were looking mature. Nataley just looks older. She decided to show different emotions for a little photo shoot. ![]() Normal Nat above, then below we have surprised, squished, bored, fish, sneaky looking through a pretend window, desperately wanting brother's sucker, and happy.
Goodies In Little Packages July 9th, 2009 We all know good things can come in small packages. Today I've gotten lots of little packages that have made me smile. Two contained photo orders, one some border for a kids dress up area, and the last was a super fun petite senior. She was so much fun. I'd forgotten how much I LOVE to do senior portraits. She was the tiniest little gal too. I had to be careful with angles as I was sure she might disapear if I turn her too much! We'll also be doing a session later this year for some cooler weather shots, so you'll get to see more of Alana then. :) ![]() Back On Schedule July 6th, 2009 I'm not sure which schedule that would be exactly, but the holidays and special occassions are over and I feel ready to accomplish a ton today. First of which is to announce.... ![]() The open house is set and plans are in the works! In two weeks I'll be having an open house for the new studio. There will be oodles of door prizes, including free prints, free sessions, free specialty photo items, gift certificates, etc... There will be drinks and hor duerves (*ahem* that'd be sparkling grape juice for the seniors, juice boxes for the kids), presents from the treasure box for all the kids, lots of dress up fun (mostly for the kids, but I won't judge the adults who want to play too), and so forth. A few surprises too, but I won't say what or they wouldn't be much of a surprise SENIORS - All the seniors that come can sign up for a FREE hour to their photo session - $30 value. Also, see the place, and the samples, for those not familiar with my work to get a better idea of what Jodi Hattery Photography is all about. The event is also going to double as a book launch for ''Forest Secrets.'' Besides myself, I know a lot of moms are looking forward to this!!! The book will be available to purchase in limited quantity that day, but I will be asking for preorders to get an idea of how many copies I should have ready. And for the little girls who fell in love with their costume from the book, you can now purchase the costume at the party! There will also be a few 'regular' tutus available as well. I hope you mark your calendars and that I'll see you there!!!
And now for the moment (some of) you have been waiting for! You can finally pre-order your book Forest Secrets. Retail for the book is $69.50, but at the book launch at the studio you can purchase yours for $50 (technically $46.74 + $3.26 tax)
I am asking for you to please pre-order your book! I don't want upset moms who have to wait another 10 days for their copy to come in, nor do I want to end up with twenty extra copies. Yes, I will make sure to have a few extra copies for those who weren't able to pre-order the book in time. For some reason the online order is calculating tax to add another penny. If it really bugs you that much, I'll give you a penny when you pick the book up at the party. Without fully giving away the details of the book and which pictures were chosen I don't want to put all the pages here so you can see if your daughter made it. I will however list the names of the little girls (I'm very sorry if I spell their names incorrectly!): The girls in the book are: Jenna (cover, title, copyright, page 10, page 36) Allie (cover, title, copyright, page 5, page 21, page 36) Savannah (copyright, page 5, page 31, page 36) Makenna and Makayla (introduction, page 34/35, with little sis) Kennadie (page 7) Kymara (page 8/9) Peyton (page 13) Macy and sister - Viki's daughters (page 14/15) Kendylle (page 16) Amelia (page 18) Kaliah (page 22, 36) Annika (page 24 Nataley (page 26/27, 36) Mandy's youngest daughter (page 28) Eleyna (page 32) Ok, I think that covers it!!! NO FREAKin WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! July 3rd I always had a special favor upon my life, especially as I was growing up. No matter the size of the crowd, I would be the one picked as the magicians assistant, from the casting director, for the morrocan dance crew, etc. It was ALWAYS me. There was not dissapointment of seeing someone else picked, I was the one picked. Now its my kids. And I LOVE it. Seriously, Couldn't be more thrilled to watch my children be the 'special' ones. Tonight was the Lima Symphony Orchastra in the park. They have done th is for years, and we began going seven years ago when Christopher was 9 months old... then not so much cause we had a baby or toddler with us all the time. But tonight we returned, and it was so amazing. ![]() Nataley and I put our blankets right up near the front before 10am. Hundreds of people made their way to the park to get good spots for their chairs as well and I giggled watching them from the studio that overlooks the park knowing we got the greatest seats. Right up front so the kids could see what was going on, but not in the direction that the speakers would blow our ears out. Ya know, we talked about getting some sidewalk chalk and writing, ''WE LOVE CRAFTON BECK" on the floor where the maestro was going to be walking up. He's been with LSO for years and years, and the only Maestro I've ever seen with them. I'm a big fan. But so much bigger now... keep reading... Before the symphony began, I pointed Maestro Beck out to Chris, and he got to run up to him and say hi, and tell Mr Beck ''GOOD LUCK! Have a good symphony tonight!'' :) ![]() So a few songs in Mr Beck was telling the audiance mentioning something about movies out way back in 1949... Joshua of course had to mention to Mr. Beck, ''Oh I remember that!" He hears Josh, and starts an all out conversation with my six year old! It was hilareous. After one song in particular he asked Josh if he enjoyed it (thankfully Josh gave his approval, wouldn't that of been interesting if he said no, lol) ![]() At intermission I went to the studio to get the camera. THANK GOODNESS I DID!!! Keep reading... I also collected Nataley from the back to bring her forward (and daddy joined us too). I knew if she stopped playing at the fountain she'd love it. She did. I enjoyed getting some photos... ![]() Maestro Beck at the office ![]() This beautiful muscician concentrated so diligently on her music. ![]() First Chair The camera was down and we were enjoying the last of the beautiful symphony with such beautiful weather, and I remember feeling it was such an incredible and enjoyable night with my family. And then Mr Beck turned around, and pointed his baton at Christopher, waving him forward. Stunned at first, I finally tell Christopher, ''GO! GO!!!'' and he asks, ''Does he really want me to go?!'' ![]() YES! OMG! It was incredible. Maestro Chris Hattery conducted the Lima Symphony Orchestra... if even for only a few minutes... ![]() You can imagine the thrill, his insane giggles and pure joy on his face. ![]() And almost as exciting was probably the thirty or so people who came to shake his hand and tell him afterwards how amazing he was *wing wink* ![]() It will surely be a night not to be forgotten for a long time. Yes, there were tears from Josh, who is overshadowed by Christopher so often (though I did get to remind him that Josh has piloted a plane, Chris has not, and some ice cream helped too) Afterwards we got the say thanks to Mr Beck, and I think a thank you note will be in order as well. |
